The Fourth Sunday of Easter
Sun, Apr 26
|St. Michael Lutheran Church
Today is Good Shepherd Sunday. Jesus calls himself the "gate" - the one who opens the way to life abundant. He knows us by name, leads us beside the still waters of our baptism, and spreads a table before us even amid the world's grief. From this table we are sent, to extend God's tender care to all

Today we celebrate Good Shepherd Sunday, one of the most tender moments in the Easter season. In today's gospel, Jesus calls himself the "gate" for the sheep — the one who opens the way to life, and life abundant.
The image is everywhere in today's readings: a Shepherd who knows us by name. Who anoints our heads with oil. Who leads us beside still waters — the same waters of our baptism. Who spreads a table before us each Sunday, even in a world marked by violence and grief.
This is the heart of what we gather to remember: we are known, we are fed, we are loved. And we are sent — to be living signs of the resurrection and to extend God's tender care to every corner of creation, to every creature, to one another.
