Jesus promises to prepare a place for us — and our baptism sends us back into the world to share his mission. We are a holy people, called out of darkness into light, bearing witness in words and deeds to the risen Christ: our way, our truth, our life.

Readings: Bible Gateway Acts 7:55-60 Psalm 31:1-5, 15-16 1 Peter 2:2-10

John 14:1-14

We are still in the heart of Easter — fifty days of celebration that refuse to let the resurrection shrink back into a single morning. And in that spirit, today's gospel gives us one of Jesus' most tender promises: I go to prepare a place for you.

A place. For you. In the house of his Father.

It is a promise made to people who are anxious, who are grieving, who do not know the way. And Jesus answers them — and us — not with a map, but with himself. I am the way, the truth, and the life.
